Springboard Holdings Detroit is a Detroit-based real estate development and investment company focused on housing, neighborhood-scale development, and long-term ownership.

Founded in 2016, Springboard began by acquiring and rehabilitating residential properties in Detroit neighborhoods where years of disinvestment had left quality housing and existing buildings undervalued. What began one property at a time has grown into a broader platform for identifying opportunities, rehabilitating and repositioning existing properties, developing housing, and building a long-term real estate portfolio.

Our growth has not changed the basic philosophy behind the company. We believe good development begins with understanding place. Properties do not exist independently of the neighborhoods around them, and investment decisions should consider existing residents and housing, local institutions, infrastructure, market conditions, public and private investment, and the long-term trajectory of the community.

Springboard continues to grow deliberately—building on hands-on experience in acquisition, rehabilitation, development, ownership, and property operations while pursuing opportunities that can strengthen both our portfolio and the neighborhoods in which we invest.

Meet the Founder

    D'Marco Ansari is a Detroit-based real estate developer, development professional, educator, and investor whose work spans private development, public-sector neighborhood development, and direct real estate ownership.

    His career has provided experience across the development process—from early-stage feasibility, underwriting, and project planning through financing, construction, implementation, and long-term operations. His work in the private sector has included multifamily and mixed-use development, while his public-sector work has focused on housing development, neighborhood investment, and the coordination of public and private resources to move complex projects forward.

    D'Marco founded Springboard Holdings Detroit in 2016 to pair that professional development experience with direct ownership and investment. Through Springboard, he has acquired, rehabilitated, operated, and reinvested in residential properties throughout Detroit, providing a hands-on perspective on the decisions and risks that accompany real estate ownership.

    In addition to his development work, D'Marco teaches real estate development at the University of Michigan's Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, where his teaching focuses on the practical intersection of real estate finance, development, public policy, and implementation.

    Across these roles, his approach to development remains consistent: successful projects require more than a viable building. They require an understanding of capital, institutions, neighborhoods, and the systems that determine whether an investment can move from concept to execution.
